Booster Pump Thermal Relief Valve Overview
The ECONO/HAT-RA regulates pump discharge based on fluid temperature, limiting water release to when thermal relief is needed. This helps maintain controlled pump temperatures while reducing unnecessary water consumption.
Its compact design saves space in pump assemblies and allows for quick and easy installation. The valve can be installed directly into compatible pump casing connections, reducing additional piping and associated installation costs.
For applications requiring higher operating pressures, consider the HAT/RA-HP High Pressure Thermal Relief Valve.
Design Features
- Exclusive Thermoloid® wax thermal actuator
- Corrosion-resistant, long service life
- Ram-type plug for tight, reliable shutoff
- Wrench flats for easy installation

How the ECONO/HAT-RA Valve Works
The ECONO/HAT-RA is installed as close to the pump casing as possible to monitor fluid temperature and respond quickly to overheating.
As fluid temperature rises into the valve’s operating range, the Thermoloid® actuator modulates the valve open to discharge overheated fluid, increasing flow as temperature continues to rise. As the fluid temperature falls, the valve modulates toward its closed position, reducing flow.
This modulating action maintains a relatively constant fluid temperature even as operating conditions vary. The water discharge can be collected, reused, or repurposed to reduce waste.
