Steam and Water Mixing for High-Temperature Washdown
Designed for facilities with an available steam supply, this industrial washdown station provides point-of-use high-temperature water for cleaning and sanitation applications.
Its serviceable cartridge contains the primary mixing components and can be cleaned or replaced in the field to simplify maintenance and reduce downtime.
The station uses a unique Venturi mixing design that minimizes the effects of water hammer and reduces the banging, popping, and crackling noises associated with cavitation in conventional mixing stations. The resulting smoother, quieter operation reduces noise and operator stress.
Every STVM® Washdown Station also includes two built-in safeguards: interlocking ball valves prevent steam-only operation and an automatic shutoff stops flow if the output temperature reaches 15°F above the unit’s temperature set point (either 150°F or 185°F) or if cold water flow is interrupted.
Typical Applications
The STVM® is a high-temperature washdown station for facilities with available steam and cold water utilities. It is used to clean processing equipment, tanks, and production areas in food processing, dairy, breweries, wineries, chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical facilities.

How the Steam and Water Mixing Station Works
The STVM® Washdown Station uses Venturi mixing technology to combine steam and cold water. Cold water enters the upper chamber of the mixing valve, while steam enters the lower chamber. The opposing flows form vortices that meet within the Venturi diffuser, mixing the steam and water while reducing noise and vibration.
Conventional washdown mixing stations with multiple moving parts and a spool and diaphragm based design can require more frequent maintenance when mineral deposits and scale accumulate. The STVM® washdown mixing valve has only one moving part: a thermal actuator contained within the valve cartridge.
As the opposing vortices of steam and water enter the mixing valve, the flow creates a scouring action that helps minimize mineral and scale buildup.
