CHCT Overview
Dirt and foreign matter can accumulate in water-cooled locomotive compressor heads and restrict flow through the cooling jacket. The Compressor Head Cleaning Tool provides maintenance teams with a dedicated method for quickly flushing the compressor head to remove buildup and help prevent blockage.
Design Features
- Four Cleaning Jets – Direct water through the compressor head cooling jacket for thorough cleaning
- Stainless-Steel Construction – Provides corrosion resistance and durability during routine maintenance
- 3/8″ NPT Connection – Connects the tool to the hose and pressurized cleaning water source

How to Use the Compressor Head Cleaning Tool
- Install a shutoff valve at the end of a pressurized water source and hose.
- Attach the hose to the tool’s 3/8″ NPT male inlet. Use a thin-head 7/8″ wrench on the CHCT wrench flats to hold the tool against rotation while tightening the hose.
- With the cooling system depressurized, remove the GURU® CH or CHS cartridge.
- Install the CHCT into the existing GURU® CH or CHS body.
- Open a downstream valve to allow cleaning water and debris to exit the system.
- Open the water supply shutoff valve to clean the compressor head.
- Shut off the water, remove the CHCT, reinstall the GURU® cartridge, close the discharge valve, and refill the cooling system.
